[Description]
The Rhodes MkV is a blend of the Rhodes MkIV and MkII models. A “traditional” Rhodes internal arrangement with the benefit of improved dampers and a redesigned hammer cam and key to permit greater control of hammer velocity and therefore dynamics.
The MkIV stand, and general case design were retained and adapted to the traditional keyframe and harp, while the hammer cam was reshaped and the key pedestal and balance point were redesigned to allow a longer hammer throw for greater player control.
While an innovative design in it’s own right, it would be a case of too little too late as the market moved on to the “better” (and lighter) all electronic sampled and synthesized pianos offered by other companies.
